Maria Savio counsels clients in all aspects of intellectual property law: patent, trademark, counterfeiting, trade dress, copyright, unfair competition and domain name disputes. She has extensive litigation experience before federal courts throughout the USA and uses that experience both to assert and defend her client’s interests and to counsel clients in infringement assert and avoidance. Given her heavy experience with counterfeiting, Ms. Savio is well versed in seeking ordinary remedies such as TROs, preliminary injunctions and asset freezes to protect her client’s interests.
Ms. Savio manages the international trademark portfolios of many clients and thus is involved day to day in a global practice. She has developed and implemented strategies for the acquisition and assertion of trademarks through the world. Much of Ms. Savio’s work relates to social media and as such she is very familiar with the challenges that trademark owners face in the digital environment and she utilizes the procedures set up since the dawn of the Internet to combat online infringements.
Ms. Savio also has substantial transactional experience working on intellectual property issues in the context of acquisitions, initial public offerings and I.P. audits. She has negotiated and drafted significant I.P. licenses and drafted all types of agreements involving intellectual property interests, including publishing contracts.
